Fall has arrived

The sawmill has taken most of my time the past several weeks and the barn is filling up with the most wonderful smell of fresh cut Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar. The Firewood stack is growing for next year. This summer saw the arrival of a new portable firewood processor, which really speeds the cutting process up. The machine cuts, splits and conveys the wood into a pile (or pickup) at about a cord an hour. I hope to have several cords of seasoned fire wood available next summer. I still need to fell a large Cherry tree and get it to the mill before the heavy Fall rains start. The shop is ramping up for the Holiday season, I guess it is time to do some "house cleaning" and make room for a number of new projects.
